The Famous Grouse: Scotland’s favourite whisky for 39 years

The Famous Grouse has been around since 1896, built on quality and authenticity. Some of the finest single malts in the world go into the bottle. The blend brings together the finest grains, pure Scottish water and carefully seasoned sherry and bourbon casks to create a uniquely rich, rounded and sweet whisky.

It is the UK’s number one Blended Scotch Whisky and it has been Scotland’s favourite for an incredible 39 years. The blend was first created by Matthew Gloag, whose signature is still printed on every bottle of The Famous Grouse sold today. The bottle also features the fun and iconic Gilbert the Grouse, who serves as a symbol of the brand’s Scottish heritage.

In 2018, The Macallan unveiled its new £140 million distillery and visitor experience on its Speyside estate. The striking contemporary architecture, cut into the slope of the land, takes its cues from the rolling Scottish hills. It stands nearby Easter Elchies House, the Highland Manor built in 1700 which has been The Macallan’s spiritual home since 1824.

Highland Park

Whisky has been distilled at Highland Park in Kirkwall, Orkney since 1798. Founder Magnus Eunson, was a direct descendant of Vikings who settled in Orkney over 1,000 years ago.

Few trees survive the gale force winds on Orkney, and this makes the island peat woodless and rich in heather. This helps create the trademark Highland Park flavour profile of aromatic smoky peat and sweet heather honey.

Highland Park’s range of award-winning permanent and special editions pays homage to the brand’s proud Viking roots and the exacting standards laid down by Magnus over 220 years ago.

The Glenrothes

Since 1879, The Glenrothes distillery in the Speyside town of Rothes has quietly and carefully produced remarkable single malt whisky. The Glenrothes draws water from five local water sources and uses it throughout production, including as part of the distillery’s particularly slow distillation process which shapes the distinctive style and character of the spirit. It is then matured in sherry seasoned oak casks from the Jerez region in Southern Spain, a defining feature of The Glenrothes single malt Scotch Whisky.

The Glenrothes is consistently made with absolute care and honesty by those who truly know what it takes to make great whisky.
