The Old Course at St Andrews has been unveiled as the venue for the historic 150th staging of The Open in 2021 by The R&A.
The Open, first competed for in 1860, is the world’s oldest and most prestigious professional golf championships and has been held at the Old Course a total of 29 times – more than any other venue.
Now it is set to welcome The 150th Open in an historic move as the golf world celebrates the iconic championship in Scotland.
Paul Bush OBE, Director of Events, said: “It is great news that The R&A have decided to stage the historic 150th playing of The Open at St Andrews, a venue synonymous with the greatest names and most memorable moments in golf. In 2015 in St Andrews we saw record crowds at The Open and we are looking forward to working with The R&A to ensure 2021 is even bigger and better.”
