What Lies Ahead for Hospitality in 2025? Stay Ahead of the Curve

As a ScotHot 2025 Ambassador Partner, the Scottish Licensed Trade Association is sponsoring one of the popular business panel sessions at this year’s Scottish Hospitality Show.

The Drinks Industry Question Time with the SLTA is open to all and takes place on Thursday 27th February, from 11.30 a.m. – 12.15 p.m., in the Liquid Academy Live Arena.

Trading conditions for the Licensed Hospitality Sector in 2025 will continue to be extremely challenging, not just with the ever-increasing daily operating pressures faced by the sector, but also with a raft of new legislative challenges to understand, prepare for and overcome.

Issues such as Alcohol Marketing and Promotions Restrictions; the Deposit Return Scheme;  Employment Law changes; Tourism Taxation and Commercial Rates are all going to have a  major impact on business owners and operators.

It is vitally important for you and your business that you are informed, you are ahead of the game and you keep up to date on all the issues the licensed hospitality sector will be facing in 2025 and beyond.

With a combined experience of 85 years working in the industry, Scottish politics and public affairs, representatives from the Scottish Licensed Trade Association, Scottish Beer and Pub Association and UKHospitality Scotland will lay out the minefield of legislative changes that are coming our way. In a Q&A session, hosted by Scottish Licensed Trade News Print Editor, Dave Hunter, they will also be on hand to answer any questions or discuss in an open debate the issues that concern you the most.

Also on the panel will be Steve Latto from The Criterion in St Andrews. Named as Licensee of the Year at the SLTN Awards in 2023 and also named Spirits Bar of the Year at the SLTN Awards in 2024. Steve will provide a valuable insight into how various legislative and economic challenges impact on the front-line operator – and how they can respond and adapt.
