Murray Lamont, alongside his partner Ellie, is the proud owner of the renowned Mackays Hotel in Wick. With a rich history spanning nearly 40 years, Murray and Ellie purchased the hotel from the family, carrying on its legacy of excellence.
Having explored the southern regions for a brief period, Murray’s heart was ultimately drawn back to the enchanting landscapes of the North, leading him to return to Wick and continue managing the family business.
Murray’s passion for whisky and wine shines through his ventures in the hospitality industry. Twenty-five years ago, he established Bin Ends, a distinguished fine wine shop, which has garnered acclaim over the years. Moreover, his vision came to life with the establishment of the Whisky Cellar & More at Inverness Airport.
As the new president of the Scottish Licensed Trade Association, Murray is dedicated to nurturing the development of aspiring individuals within the industry. He is committed to creating opportunities for young talent to flourish while actively working to expand and support the association’s membership.
In recognition of their exceptional contributions to tourism, Murray and Ellie were jointly appointed as tourism ambassadors at the prestigious Highland & Islands Tourism Awards in 2022.
